Underground River

Underground River is located 50 km north of Puerto Princesa City. Only about an hour drive from the heart of the city. The park is also known as St. Paul's Subterranean River National Park and last 12th of November 1999 the park was renamed to Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park and expanded the protected area from 3,901 hectares to 22,204 hectares.

Because of its significance in ecosystem comprises of rich flora and fauna the park was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 4th of December 1999. And the most distinguished international recognition of the park was the recently held The New 7 Wonders of Nature where it is listed together with Amazonia, Halong Bay, Iguazu, Jeju Island, Komodo Island and Table Mountain.

The park feature 8.2 km navigable Underground River with limestone karst mountain landscape. Inside the underground river are breathtaking formations of limestone,stalagmites and stalactites and large cave chambers. And even before you experience this wonder of nature, outside the cave everyone can witness diversity of the ecosystem which the park belongs. It's a home for large monitor lizards,endemic birds,squirrels,Phillipines monkey and vast arrays of mountain flower and trees standing proud to every visitor.
